Two weeks ago I went to NYC for a job interview. It was only a two day trip, but I made it worthwhile. It was my first real interview as I search for a position in the media and advertising industry in New York City. I think it went well and I’m hoping for the best. I understand the job process is going to be long, so I am being patient and embracing my visits into the city.

After my interview, I got to explore the city with my sisters of Kappa Gamma Chi. Having so many sisters in NYC this summer and in the fall makes me more excited about my future move into the city! On Thursday night, a lot of Kappas and a special Tau brother took over Galaxy Dinner during the rain and made it into our very own hang out spot. The workers were so nice and welcoming, they even took a group picture of all of us! Being able to catch up with sisters and hear about their amazing plans for the summer was great. My trip into the city was a success cause not only did I see so many sisters, but I saw a lot of men in uniform because it was Fleet Week. Thank you to those who serve our country and thank for wearing those uniforms all over the city. My visit to NYC was the first of the summer, but not the last. I had an amazing time and I look forward to all my future visits.

Lauren Mandel’s behind the scenes scoop on the Grand Opening Party at Patricia Field!
Last night was the Grand Opening Party of Patricia Field at 306 Bowery. As PR Intern for Ingrid Nilsen, Director of PR and Social Media, I was given the task of greeting guests at the entrance of the party and checking to make sure they were on “the list.” The list contains names of invite only RSVPs of everyone from the press to friends of House of Field.
My mentor and co-worker for the job was Connie Girl, one of the fiercest women I have met here at Patricia Field, and as you can imagine I see my fair share of amazing people on the daily at the store.
The party started off with Connie and I simply checking names off the list, but as the night went on more and more people showed up looking to join the excitement.
The party was going well and the hard work had paid off, but then we reached capacity! It was an event true to New York City fashion! Connie and I were told to cut the door and not let anyone else in until people started clearing out. We were so sorry to keep people waiting, but it was truly for everyone’s safety. Well, I found it hard to say no to the friendly faces who were dressed to impress, but keeping people lined up outside gave me more time to admire everyone’s great outfits, a sight not to be missed!
But by the end of the night I had seen it all and learned how to handle every, and any communicative situation. Glass had shattered, and pasties sprawled the floor, but it was all in good spirit of the party! Overall, the night was a success, thankfully no one got hurt and everyone had a great time! I look forward to seeing more amazing Patricia Field events to come.
